Fresh Apple Crisp

- 3 lbs. apples
- 2 T. lemon juice
- 1/2 C. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/3 C. flour
- 1/3 C. granulated sugar
- 1/3 C. rolled oats
- 4 T. butter (1/2 stick)
- 1/2 C. walnuts or pecans
Preheat the oven to 375°. Peel, core, and chop apples, then toss in a bowl with lemon juice to prevent darkening. In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir apples into brown sugar mixture then set aside. In another bowl combine flour, sugar and oats. Cut butter into 8 pieces then cut butter into flour until mixture looks like crumbs. Stir nuts into flour mixture. Spread apples in bottom of baking dish then sprinkle with flour mixture. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is lightly browned. Serve warm or at room temperature.
