Fish Cakes
- 2 lbs. Oio – scraped or ground
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 egg
- 1½ cup water
- ¼ cup chopped string beans
- ¼ cup chopped carrots
- Ajinomoto
Use Japanese bowl, kagatsu. Put the ground fish and grind finer. Mix cornstarch, garlic, egg and water and add to fish, gradually. When all liquid is used and the mixture is smooth, add sugar and salt and ajinomoto. Add the vegetables and mix well with a spoon. Drop by spoonful or form flattened ball. Fry in deep oil until lightly brown.
