Broiled Spareribs

  • 3 lbs. spareribs, cut 4” lengths
  • 1 1-inch piece of ginger grated
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp. sherry or mirin
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ½ cup + 2 tbsp. sugar
  • ½ tsp. monosodium glutamate

Boil ribs in very little water. Simmer for 1 hour or until meat is tender, drain, combine ingredients in sauce for 30 minutes. Broil over charcoal or in oven.
