Pineapple Spareribs
- 1 lb. spareribs, cut into 2″ pieces
- ½ cup water
- 1 tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 tsp. shoyu
- Oil for deep fat frying
Sweet-sour Sauce:
- ½ cup sugar
- 6 tbsp. pineapple juice
- 1/3 cup vinegar
- 2 tsp. shoyu
- 1 tbsp. cornstarch
- ½ cup diced pineapples
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
Boil ribs with water, uncovered, until most of the water has evaporated. Coat ribs with mixture of shoyu and cornstarch. Fry ribs in deep fat until golden brown. (2 or 3 minutes). Drain and keep warm.
Combine ingredients for sauce, except the pineapples. Blend well and bring to boil, stirring. Simmer 1 minute. Add pineapple. Pour over ribs.
