Pesang Manok (Filipino)

  • 1 medium sized chicken
  • 1 small sized round cabbage
  • 1 head swiss chard
  • 1 piece ginger
  • 1 stalk green onion
  • 3 grains peppercorns
  • Water
  • Salt to taste

In a saucepan, put chopped chicken, pepper, salt, and ginger with enough water to cover the chicken. Cook, covered, until chicken is almost done. Then add the onion, cabbage and swiss chard, cook covered for another 15 minutes or until chicken is tender. Serve hot with patis.
