Mango Strips
- 1 gallon green mango strips, partially dry in hot sun for 1 day, turning at intervals
Syrup:
- 1 box brown sugar
- 2 cups washed sugar
- ¼ cup lemon or lime juice (increase if mangoes are sweet)
- ½ cup water
- 1 tbsp. salt
Mix together and bring to boil till sugar melts.
Add:
- ½ tsp. five spices
- ½ tsp. red food coloring
- 1 tsp. sodium benzoate (preservative) optional if to keep long unrefrigerated
