Mango Strips

  • 1 gallon green mango strips, partially dry in hot sun for 1 day, turning at intervals

Syrup:

  • 1 box brown sugar
  • 2 cups washed sugar
  • ¼ cup lemon or lime juice (increase if mangoes are sweet)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp. salt

Mix together and bring to boil till sugar melts.

Add:

  • ½ tsp. five spices
  • ½ tsp. red food coloring
  • 1 tsp. sodium benzoate (preservative) optional if to keep long unrefrigerated
