Italian Meat Sauce

  • 3 T bacon fat
  • ¾ # ground beef
  • ¼ # ground lean pork
  • 2 T butter
  • ¾ c onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2-8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1-#2 can tomatoes
  • 1-4 oz can mushroom
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ c chopped parsley

Heat bacon fat in skillet. Add ground meats and brown lightly. Meantime, heat butter in saucepan. Add onions and garlic and simmer for 5 minutes. Add meat and rest of ingredients. Cover and simmer gently for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Uncover and continue cooking for 30 minutes. Serve over freshly cooked spaghetti. Good served with grated cheese.
