Fried Stuffed Tofu

Yields: 4-6 servings

  • 1/2 lbs. raw fishcake
  • 1/4 c. green onions, minced
  • 1/4 tsp. Ajinomoto
  • Dash of pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 block tofu
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. cracker or bread crumbs
  • 2 c. oil for frying
  1. Combine fishcake, green onions and seasonings and mix thoroughly.
  2. Cut tofu into 1 x 1 1/2-inch blocks. Cut a slit in one side of the tofu and stuff with fishcake mixture.
  3. Steam 10 minutes; set aside to drain.
  4. Dip stuffed tofu in egg; dredge in crumbs and pan fry in hot oil for 1 to 2 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve with shoyu.
