Beef With Pickled Turnip

  • 1 T oil
  • 1 lb pickled turnip
  • ½ lb round steak
  • 2 T sugar
  • 1 T cornstarch
  • ¾ c water
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 T shoyu
  • 2 T green onions
  • ¼ tsp ginger juice

Cut meat into ½ x ½ x 1” strips. Add shoyu, salt and ginger juice and let stand 5 minutes. Cut turnip in ½ x ½ x 1”. Heat oil, add meat. Brown. Add turnip, sugar and water and simmer 5 minutes. Add paste made of 1 T cornstarch and 2 T water, lastly add green onions. Serve at once while hot.
