Superb Meatballs

Yields: 4-6 servings

Meatballs

  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 tsp. flour
  • 2/3 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. catsup
  • Dash of allspice
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. oil

Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 3 tbsp. catsup
  • 2 beef boullion cubes
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 c. burgundy
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Chopped parlsey for garnish
  1. Combine hamburger, crumbs, flour, onion, allspice, egg, milk, salt and catsup.
  2. Shape mixture into small balls — heaping teaspoon size.
  3. Brown well in oil and remove from pan.
  4. Blend sauce in oil remaining in pan.
  5. Cook and stir constantly until smooth.
  6. Add meatballs to sauce.
  7. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
