Ahi Baked in Tomato Sauce
Yield: 4 Servings
- 1 lb. fresh Ahi steak (or Shibi)
- Salt to taste
- 1 cup coarsely strained tomatoes (canned or fresh)
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- Grated Italian cheese (parmesan)
- ¼ tsp. thyme
- ¼ tsp. oregano
- Pinch of rosemary
- Dash of ground cayenne (red pepper) (optional)
- 1 tbsp. olive oil or (salad oil)
Salt Ahi steak lightly on each side, let stand 20-25 minutes. Grease baking pan (rectangular size) with olive or salad oil. Put Ahi into greased baking dish. Mix all remaining ingredients, except the olive oil, and pour over Ahi. Pour over all the olive oil. Bake slowly, 325 degrees for one hour. Serve hot with rice.
