Yaki Dofu Miso Ni (Fried Soybean Curb Cooked in Miso)

Servings 3-4

  • 1 tofu
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Cut tofu in four slices. Place between dish towels to remove excess water. Heat oil in a pan and fry tofu on both sides.

Cut fried tofu in inch cubes and cook over low heat for 20 minutes in the following sauce until well seasoned.

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup miso
  • 2½ tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons shredded shrimp or katsuobushi

This dish may be served as a meat substitute.
