Lasagne Sauce
- 2 lbs. ground chuck
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 large can whole tomatoes
- 1 can tomato paste
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup olive oil
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1 tsp. chopped parsley
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1 pint cottage cheese
- 1 lb. mozzarella cheese
- 1 pkg. lasagne noodles
- Parmesan cheese
Heat olive oil in a large pan and saute onions and garlic only until soft. Add meat and brown, add tomatoes, water and spices. Stir and let simmer about 3 hours. If sauce gets too thick, add a little water occasionally. Do not cover.
When sauce is done, cook lasagne noodles as directed on package. Drain and run cold water on them Place one layer noodles in large loaf pan and cover with part of sauce, add ½ of each cheese spreading the cheese around the entire pan, continue again, add remaining sauce and sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
