Chocolate Deluxe Pie

  • 1 can (14-oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 squares (1-oz) unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups whipped topping
  • 1 graham cracker pie crust
  • Whipped topping

In top of double boiler, combine condensed milk, chocolate and salt. Cook over boiling water, stirring constantly, until very thick. Gradually stir in water. Cook 2-5 minutes, stirring until mixture thickens again. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Cool to room temperature. Fold in whipped topping; pour into crust. Chill. Garnish with shaved chocolate or nuts, if desired.
