Cheese Fondue

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • Dash of salt and pepper to taste
  • 4-6 slices white bread, crusts trimmed
  • 4-6 teaspoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2-3/4 pound sharp cheese, cut in slices

Beat eggs; add milk, salt and pepper. Butter both sides of bread and cut each slice in half. In a glass baking dish, place 4-6 half slices of bread. Add cheese slices, then layer with remaining bread. Pour milk mixture to cover bread and cheese. Let stand 15 minutes. Put glass baking dish in a pan of hot water and bake at 300-325°F. 2 hours or until brown crust forms. Serve immediately.
