Broiled Tomatoes

Wash tomatoes and cut crosswise. Arrange halves in baking dish. Sprinkle the tomatoes with salt, pepper, sugar and soft buttered crumbs. Broil about 3 inches under medium heat until crumbs are nicely browned.
TO MAKE BUTTERED CRUMBS:
Melt 1 T butter in a saucepan and add 2 T finely rolled crumbs. Mix until crumbs are well coated with butter.
