- 2 medium onions
- 1/2 cup catsup
- 1 c water
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1 1/2 T Worcestershire sauce
- 2 T vinegar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 T sugar
- 1 tsp dry mustard
Have butcher cut spareribs into serving pieces. Combine rest of ingredients for sauce, except onions. Place a layer of ribs in roasting pan. Slice one onion over them and cover with half the sauce. Repeat layers. Cover pan and bake at 325 degrees F. two hours. Uncover last half hour.
SPARERIBS are so versatile – you can roast them, braise or cook them in water. Cooking spareribs in water with sauerkraut is one of the easiest ways to prepare them. To vary this recipe omit catsup and chili powder and use 1 c chili sauce and 2 T horseradish.
