Barbecue Sauce (Japanese Style)

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup shoyu
  • 1 clove garlic
  • grated fresh ginger
  • ¼ cup sake or mirin or cooking wine

Boil together for 10 minutes to thicken. Cool. Pour over spareribs or cut-up chicken. Marinate the meat for 1 hour or longer. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees, basting occasionally.
