Pound Cake

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 2/3 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla or lemon extract
  • ½ tsp. salt

Cream together butter and sugar until light. Sift flour and salt and baking powder; add half to creamed mixture. Beat hard. Add eggs, one at a time, beating hard after each addition. Add vanilla and remaining flour and beat until smooth. Pour into greased pan. Bake at 325 degrees F. for 1 hour.
