Soyu Chicken

  • 3 to 4 lb. chicken
  • 1/2 cup soyu
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. oyster sauce
  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • 1 piece crushed ginger
  • 3 tbsp. liquor
  • 1/4 tsp. ajinomoto
  • Dash of ‘5 Spice’ seasoning
  • 1 lb. beansprouts

Bring to boil all ingredients (except chicken and beansprouts). Brown chicken in deep oil if desired. Add chicken to the sauce mixture and simmer 40 minutes. Turn chicken over once to brown evenly.

Parboil beansprouts and drain all the water out. Line platter with beansprouts and arrange chopped chicken over this. Add cornstarch to the remaining sauce to thicken. Pour over chicken. Garnish with parsley.
