Beef Tomato
Karen Ishikane Tani, Class of 1965
Marinate 1 lb round steak, thinly sliced, in:
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 4 Tbsp shoyu
- 1 tsp sugar
- Pinch of salt and pepper
- 2 Tbsp oil
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
Let stand 15 minutes, then brown meat in frying pan, leaving juices; add more oil and cook 2 sliced onions and 2 sliced green peppers. DO NOT OVERCOOK.
Make a paste of:
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt and pepper
Return beef to pan and add paste. Add 3-4 tomatoes, cut in wedges. Remove from heat and serve.
