Pork Tofu

  • ½ lb. lean pork, sliced thin
  • 2 tbsp. fat
  • 1 medium round onion, sliced thin
  • 8-10 green onion, with tops cut in 1½ inch lengths
  • ¼ tsp. monosodium glutamate
  • 2½ tbsp. sugar
  • 1/3 cup shoyu sauce
  • 4-5 thin slices ginger root
  • 1 square cubed tofu

Brown pork in fat. Add shoyu sauce, sugar, ginger slices, and monosodium glutamate. Cook until sauce bubbles. Add onions and cook over low flame. Add tofu cubes and cook uhtil tofu absorbs shoyu sauce and turns light brown. Serve hot with rice.

Variations: Crush tofu before adding. Just before serving, add 3 beaten eggs. Mix slightly and cook over low flame until eggs are firm. Serve hot.

Optional: ¼ cup sliced string beans, ¼ cup sliced carrots, ¼ cup bamboo shoots, ¼ cup mushrooms, ¼ cup watercress
