Doughnut Drops
- 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 3/4 c. milk
- 3 tbsp. salad oil
- Oil about 1″ deep for frying
- Confectioner’s sugar or cinnamon sugar
- Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
- Add egg, milk, and 3 tbsp. oil.
- Stir until smooth.
- Heat oil to 365°.
- Drop dough by teaspoonfuls into hot oil.
- Turn doughnut puffs after a few seconds; then fry until browned on both sides, turning once more.
- Remove with slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Roll in confectioner’s sugar or cinnamon sugar.
- Serve warm. Yields: 3 dozen tiny doughnuts
