Easy Kaki Mochi

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup salad oil
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 pkg (12.3 oz) bite-sized corn and wheat cereal squares
  • 1 pkg (1.05 oz) furikake nori

Preheat electric oven to 250°F. In a small saucepan, melt butter. Add corn syrup, salad oil, sugar, and soy sauce; stir until sugar dissolves. Put cereal into a large baking pan. Pour syrup over cereal; mix well. Stir in furikake nori. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool; store in an air-tight container.

Makes 3 quarts.
