The Best Date Nut Bar
Pan Size: 9×13-inch pan
Baking Time: 12 minutes; 30 minutes
Temperature: 400° 350°
Crust:
- 1 c. butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 3 tbsp. powdered sugar
Filling:
- 2/3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 c. walnut bits
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. dates, chopped
1. Cream the butter and sugar.
2. Add the flour and mix till crumbly.
3. Press into a greased 9×13 pan.
4. Bake for 12 minutes at 400° (do not brown crust)
5. Mix the dry ingredients for the filling and set aside.
6. Beat the eggs and add the brown sugar and dates and blend well.
7. Add the flour mixture.
8. Add the vanilla and nuts.
9. Spread over the baked crust and bake for 30 minutes at 350°.
10. Cut into squares or bars while hot.
11. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
