Rolls
Mrs. Helen Billings – Honokaa
- 1 qt sweet milk
- 1 c sugar
- 1 c shortening
- 1 cake yeast
- 1/4 c water
- Flour, about 11 c
- 1 T salt
- 2 heaping tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp soda
Heat together but do not boil the milk, sugar and shortening. Let cool and then add the yeast cake which has been dissolved in the water. Add flour to thickness of cake batter. Let rise 2 hours.
Add rest of ingredients and mix well. Add enough flour to knead. Grease over top and keep in refrigerator until needed. Make into rolls and let rise 2 hours before baking.
