Ice Box Rolls

- 1/4 c shortening
- 1/2 c sugar (or less)
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c boiling water
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cake yeast
- 1/2 c cold water
- 3 c flour
Pour boiling water over shortening, add sugar and salt and blend. Cool. Add egg. Let yeast stand in cold water for five minutes. Stir and add to mixture. Add flour, blend well, cover and place in ice box for at least 24 hours.
About 3 hours before using, roll into desired shape, let rise and bake in oven, 425 ° F., for 15 minutes.
