Meat Sticks
- ½ pound sirloin steak
- Bamboo barbecue sticks (kushisashi)
Sauce:
- ⅓ cup coarse brown sugar
- 1 cup shoyu
- 1 clove garlic, grated
- 1 small piece ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- ⅛ teaspoon gourmet powder
Cut meat into 1½″ squares about ¼″ thick and skewer 3 pieces on each bamboo stick, keeping meat flat in a row so that bamboo will not show.
Soak skewered meat sticks in sauce in a deep container and let stand for about 10 minutes. Broil over charcoal.
