Macadamia Nut Angels

Pan Size: 8×8-inch pan
Baking Time: 30-35 minutes; 15 minutes for crust
Temperature: 350°

Crust:

  • 1 c. all purpose flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 6 tbsp. butter
  1. Cut the flour, sugar and butter together.
  2. Flatten into the bottom of an 8-inch square pan.
  3. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.

Topping:

  • 3/4 c. cake flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. oil
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. macadamia nuts
  1. Sift the dry ingredients for the topping and make a well into which you add the oil, milk, yolks and vanilla. Mix well.
  2. Beat the egg whites stiff and then add the sugar.
  3. Add the nuts to the stiff egg whites.
  4. Blend in the liquid mixture.
  5. Pour on top of the baked crust.
  6. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes.
  7. When done, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
