Kuri Manju

- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 can chestnuts — Kuri-Kan-roni
- White an made of lima beans
- 1 egg yolk for glaze
- Poppy seeds or sesame seeds
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs. Sift flour and salt and add to the creamed mixture. Add vanilla.
Drain the chestnuts and break into small pieces. Mix into the white an made according to the recipe on page 130. Take an by tablespoons and shape into oval balls.
Cover balls of an with a thin layer of the dough.
Brush tops with egg yolk mixed with 1 teaspoon of water. Sprinkle tops with poppy seeds or sesame seeds, and bake on greased cookie sheet for about 15-20 minutes in a moderate oven, 350° F.
