Fudge-y Peanut Butter Bars

Class of 1970

  • 1 pkg yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels
  • 1-1/3 cups sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1 pkg coconut pecan or coconut almond frosting mix

In large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, peanut butter, butter and eggs. By hand, stir until dough holds together; press 2/3 of dough into bottom of ungreased 13×9-inch pan. Reserve remaining dough for topping. In heavy saucepan, combine chocolate pieces, condensed milk and butter. Melt over low heat, stirring constantly till smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in frosting mix. Spread filling over dough in pan. Crumble reserved dough over filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes till light golden brown. Cool completely, cut into bars.

Yield: 36 bars
