Chocolate Cake #2
- 1 cup butter
- 2 1/3 cups sugar
- 4 eggs (add whole one at a time)
- 3 cups cake flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. baking powder
Melt 3 squares chocolate in 1½ cups hot water, stir until melted and cool. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, and add sifted dry ingredients alternately with melted chocolate. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 to 45 minutes.
Frosting:
- 2 squares chocolate
- 4½ to 5 tbsp. cornstarch
- 1½ cups sugar
- 1½ cups hot water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- pinch of salt
Mix dry ingredients. Add hot water and chocolate gradually while stirring. Add vanilla. Cool before frosting cake.
