Choco-Chip Bars

CLASS OF 1949

  • 1 pkg banana date or nut quick bread mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces, divided
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional

Grease bottom only of 13×9-inch pan. Pour quick bread mix into pan, add water, egg and 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces. Stir with fork just until blended, about 2 minutes, scraping corners occasionally. Sprinkle remaining chocolate pieces and nuts over batter. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool; cut into bars. Store tightly covered.

Yield: 2-3 dozen bars
