Fruit-Nut Refrigerator Cookies

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 cup nut meats, chopped
  • 1/2 cup pitted dates, chopped
  • 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, chopped

Cream butter and sugar together; add eggs. Sift flour, salt, cinnamon and soda together. Add 1/2 cup of flour mixture to the fruits and nuts. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mix well, and add the remaining floured ingredients. Form into rolls 1 inch in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper. Store in your refrigerator overnight or longer. Slice 1/4 inch thick. Place on a greased cookie sheet, set the oven control at 400 degrees and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
