Lumpia
–Mila Mamuad
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 tsp. oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, minced
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. soy sauce
- 1 small carrot, diced
- 1 cup sliced green beans
- 1 pkg. (10 oz.) bean sprouts
- 40 lumpia wrappers
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup water
Sweet-sour sauce:
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Dash of pepper
Heat oil in saucepan. Saute garlic and onion. Add ground beef, salt, pepper, soy sauce, carrots, green beans, and bean sprouts. Cook until meat is brown. Remove from heat; drain and cool thoroughly.
Place 2 Tbsp. of meat mixture on lumpia wrapper and fold envelope-style. Moisten edges with water-and-flour mixture. Deep fry lumpia until golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper. Serve hot with sauce.
Sauce: Combine water, vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, and salt. Bring to boil. Mix cornstarch with water and stir into boiling mixture; lower heat. Cook until thickened, adding garlic and pepper.
