Oyster Sauce Pupus

  • 1 lb sirloin tip, 1-inch cubes
  • 1 can (6-oz) water chestnuts, drained
  • 1/4 cup oyster sauce
  • 2 Tbsp salad oil
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 cup minced green onions
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 can (5-3/4 oz) whole mushrooms
  • 3 green onions
  • 36 skewers

Cut water chestnuts crosswise into halves. In a small bowl combine oyster sauce, salad oil, soy sauce, garlic, minced green onions and sugar; add meat, water chestnuts and mushrooms. Stir to mix. Cover and let stand in refrigerator for 1-1/2 hours. Cut green onions in 1-inch pieces. Put pieces of meat, water chestnuts, mushrooms and green onions alternately on skewers. Broil 3-inches from unit for 5 minutes; turn and broil 3 minutes more.

Yield: 8 servings
