Butterscotch Fondue

  • ½ cup butter or margarine
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 tbsp. water
  • 1-15 oz. can sweetened condensed milk (1½ cups)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

In a saucepan, melt butter. Then stir in sugar, corn syrup and water. Bring to boiling. Stir in milk. Simmer, stirring constantly, till mixture reaches thread stage (230º). Add vanilla. Pour into fondue pot and place over burner. If mixture becomes too thick, stir in a little milk or water.

Suggested dippers: Pound cake, vanilla wafers, apples, popcorn.

Makes 8 servings.
