Boiled Oatmeal Cookies

• 2 cups sugar
• ½ cup milk
• 2 tbsp. butter
• ½ cup peanut butter
• 3 cups quick oatmeal
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 1 cup nutmeats, chopped

Cook together over low heat the sugar, milk, butter, and peanut butter until it comes to a boil. Remove from fire and add oatmeal. Mix thoroughly; then add vanilla and nuts. Drop on waxed paper. Cool to set. For chocolate cookies, add 4 tbsp. cocoa. Makes 4–5 dozen good-size cookies.
