Yaki Manju

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1½ stick margarine
  • 2½ cup flour, all purpose
  • ¼ cup fresh milk
  • 1 can tsubushi-an (sweetened red beans)

Cut butter and margarine into flour like pie crust. Add milk, mix until well moistened. Shape into balls, the size of walnuts. Flatten on palm of hand and place 1 tsp. beans in center. Seal dough by pinching edges together. Flatten slightly and arrange on ungreased cookie sheet. Brush with evaporated milk and bake for 20 minutes in 400 degrees oven.
