Ruby Punch Bowl
Makes 1 gallon
- 1-1/2 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 sticks cinnamon
- 2 tsp. whole clove
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 pint chilled cranberry juice cocktail
- 2 (4/5th) bottles California Burgundy or red dinner wine
- 1 qt. chilled apple cider
- Cubes of ice
- Thin slices of lemon or lime
Bring water, sugar, spices and salt to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes; strain out and discard spices; cool syrup. Combine spiced syrup with wine, cranberry cocktail and cider. Turn into punch bowl; add ice cubes and lemon slices.
