Rolled Sugar Cookies

• 1/2 c. shortening
• 3/4 c. sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/2 tsp. vanilla
• 1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
• 2 c. flour
• 1/4 tsp. salt
• 1/2 tsp. baking powder
• 1/2 tsp. soda
• 2-3 Tbsp. milk

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add vanilla and grated orange peel. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Mix thoroughly. Roll 1/8-inch thick on floured surface. Cut with floured cookie cutter. Bake in 375 degree oven 12 minutes. Makes 2 dozen.
