Puhi Salsa
From Patrick A. Rapozo, Unit 3, DOT, Kauai
My cousin, Kathleen Koerte, gave me her favorite recipe for salsa. Since I grow fresh herbs in my garden, I decided to experiment some and came up with a mixture I call Puhi Salsa.
Now my Puhi Salsa is my cousin’s favorite recipe. This recipe is great with chips and is also good in omelettes.
- 5-6 tomatoes, diced
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
- 1/8 cup fresh oregano, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Hawaiian salt
- 3 8-ounce cans tomato sauce
- 1 8-ounce can El Pato Sauce*
- 4-ounces regular or cider vinegar
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and serve with chips.
