Puffed Wheat

  • 8 c. puffed wheat or rice
  • 1 block butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. peanuts

Heat puffed wheat and peanuts in oven at 200 degrees F. until warm and crispy. Melt butter, add sugar and cook over high heat until the hard crack stage. (Test by pouring a few drops of syrup in a glass with water. If it feels hard like candy, it is ready.) Remove from heat immediately and pour puffed wheat and peanuts and mix. Place in a greased cake pan (9 x 13 x 2) and press. Cut while still warm into squares.
