Pralines

  • 2 c granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c sour milk
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 T butter
  • 2 1/3 c pecan halves

Place sugar, soda, sour milk and salt in a large pot and cook for 5 minutes. Add butter and nuts and cook 5 minutes longer until the very soft ball stage. Remove from heat, cool slightly. Then beat until creamy and thickened. Drop by teaspoonfuls on waxed paper.
