Lentils Soup

  • 1/2 pkg. lentils (7 oz.)
  • 6 cups cold salted water (to taste)

Simmer 45 minutes.

Add:

  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 can (2 1/2 size) tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp. bacon fat
  • 1/2 pound hamburger
  • salt and pepper to taste

Cook one hour more. Diced carrots and potatoes may be added.
