Hikiniku To Tamago No Atsu Yaki (Baked Ground Beef and Egg Loaf)
Mrs. Edward Sakai
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/3 cup shoyu
- Dash of gourmet powder
- 5 eggs
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Heat skillet, add 2 teaspoons vegetable oil, and cook ground beef, stirring occasionally, until done.
Add sugar, shoyu, gourmet powder and cook for about 5 minutes until meat is well seasoned. Pour off most of the liquid but save 2 tablespoons of it.
Beat eggs slightly, add cooked ground beef, and mix well. Add cornstarch made into paste with the 2 tablespoons of the liquid, and mix well.
Pour into 5″ x 9″ greased loaf pan and bake in oven for 15 minutes at 325° or when tested with knife, it comes out clean.
Remove from oven and let it set—about 10 minutes. Loosen sides with a spatula and flip the pan over a cutting board. Tap the bottom, if necessary. Remove pan, and cut in rectangular pieces to serve.
