Doughnut Puffs
- 2 cups sifted flour
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ tsp. nutmeg
- ½ tsp. mace
- 1 tbsp. baking powder
- ¼ cup liquid shortening
- 1 egg
- ¾ cup milk
- Fat for frying
Sift dry ingredients together. Add liquids, oil, milk and egg. Stir with a fork until thoroughly mixed. Drop by teaspoonfuls into deep hot fat or oil, about 375 degrees and cook about 3 minutes or until golden brown and done. Drain on abosrbent paper. Roll warm puffs into cinnamon-sugar mixture.
