Date-Nut Bars

  • 1/2 c. butter, melted
  • 2 c. sugar (1 c. each brown and white)
  • 4 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 pinches salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. dates, chopped
  • 2 c. nuts, coarse

Beat eggs well in large bowl. Add melted butter, sugar, and vanilla mixing until blended. Add rest of dry ingredients and mix well. Spread in large baking pan (9×14-inch bottom measurement) lined with waxed paper and greased. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Cut into long finger shaped pieces while warm and sprinkle powdered sugar.
