Brownies

  • ¼ pound butter
  • 1 box brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 1 (8 oz.) can walnuts – coarsely chopped

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients together and add slowly. Add nuts and vanilla. Put dough into two 7½x7½ greased square pans. Spread the mixture out, will be about ½” thick. Bake in 350 degrees oven for 35 or 40 minutes. Cool for about 15 minutes before cutting into squares. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired.
