All Bran Bread
Mrs. A. Muramatsu – Hakalau
- 1 c boiling water
- 1½ c all bran
- 1½ tsp salt
- 2 T shortening
- 1 c milk
- 2 T dark molasses
- 1 cake yeast
- flour – about 5 c
Pour boiling water over all bran. Add salt, shortening and milk. When mixture is cool, add molasses and yeast cake which has been dissolved in some lukewarm water.
Add enough flour to make good bread dough. Knead well and let rise until double in bulk. Knead again and put in greased loaf pans. Let rise until double in bulk. Bake in moderate oven 350° F for 1 hour.
